29. I need help with my order - what should I do?
1. What Makes ‘My Very Own Picture’ so unique and different from other children’s wall art?
- The quality of the art and photography…….it speaks for itself.
- The technology we employ and method of reproduction
- All our limited edition Art Prints are printed and numbered to order with a unique signed ‘Certificate of Authenticity’. Each Certificate of Authenticity has a numbered hologram affixed to it, with our company logo. A corresponding numbered hologram is affixed to the back of each limited edition Art Print.
- Each Art Print and Growth Chart has a short biography of the artist with a small self-portrait. We’d like you to be able to read about the person who painted your picture!
- Each Art Print’ design is a limited edition of 250.
- We use acid free, archival quality canvas, weight 385gm/sq meter, matte finish.
- Our wood stretcher bars are 50mm wide (2”) and 38mm deep (1.5”). They are gallery wrap museum quality wood bars. Most stretched wall art for children is only 18mm deep.
- Each print is produced one at a time, signed, hand inspected, and hand stretched.
- We document each print, and numbered certificate.
- We do not produce new editions with minor changes. Our editions are complete.

2. What does ‘giclee’ mean?
‘Giclee’ (pronounced Zee-clay) is roughly translated French for ‘to spray’. It is a relatively new form of printing, and has really taken off in the last three to five years.
It differs from traditional lithographic prints, in that it yields a higher resolution, thus producing a much wider colour spectrum. The results are deep, saturated colours, and excellent detail, almost impossible to tell from an original. The images can be stored digitally, thus enabling images to be produced in small quantities, even one at a time, impossible with the more traditional methods. The following artists are making, showing, and buying giclee prints.
- Robert Rauschenberg, famous US pop artist
- Jim Dine
- David Hockney
- Andrew and Jamie Wyeth

3. Do museums take giclee prints seriously?
Yes, they certainly do. The following museums have all enthusiastically embraced the use of giclee printing from original art.
Shows at the Metropolitan Museum of Modern Art in New York
- The Los Angeles Museum of Modern Art.
- Corcoran Gallery, Washington
- The Louvre Museum, Paris
- The Guggenheim, New York

4. What is your ‘Certificate of Authenticity’?
All our limited edition Art Prints are printed in editions of 250, and numbered to order with a unique signed ‘Certificate of Authenticity’. Each ‘Certificate of Authenticity’ has a numbered hologram affixed to it, with our company logo. A corresponding numbered hologram is affixed to the back of each limited edition Art Print.
You can see what this looks like if you click on ‘Certificate of Authenticity’ on the home page of our website.

5. Who painted my picture?
We’d like you to be able to read about your artist, so each print has a short biography with small self-portrait of the artist who painted your picture. This comes in an envelope with your ‘Certificate of Authenticity’. You can see what this looks like if you click on ‘Certificate of Authenticity’ on the home page of our website.

6. Why ‘Keepsake Photography’?
Because when we asked parents what their top three most treasured child’s keepsakes might be. The unanimous vote was:
1 Their child’s first shoes, They brought back memories of those first precious steps.
2 Their child’s favorite teddy, monkey, doll, or rabbit etc….(there were lots of stories here)
3 A magical drawing or painting they ‘just couldn’t part with’.
They all had stories and memories to share about those first little steps, the one eyed teddy who was lost and found, the doll who acquired a funny name, or the wonderful picture of the purple robot with the upside-down wellies.
With this in mind, we created the idea of made-to-order Photographic Childhood Keepsakes on stretched canvas of:
(a) A favorite painting or drawing signed by the child ( if he/she is old enough)
(b) A child’s first ‘real’ shoes with a personalised note about those first steps etc.
(c) A photo of their teddy, doll, or bunny etc. with relevant wording
Each keepsake will be printed with a suitable font including names, personal anecdotes, dates of first steps etc…whatever is important to the individual client.
Imagine being able to capture all these treasures on canvas with your child’s own unique keepsake?

7. How do I go about getting my child’s first shoes, teddy or drawing onto a stretched canvas?
We can do this with the aid of scanning and photographic software. We are able to produce prints onto canvas from almost any photograph, digital image or your child’s original artwork. However, due to the nature of this precious material, we have decided the best way to do this is for you to submit your photos via email to mark@MyVeryOwnPicture.com
To photograph your child’s keepsake, you should set your camera to ‘superfine jpeg’, and shoot on a plain white background. Make sure you shoot in good light, i.e. close to a window on a bright day.
If you prefer you can post a CD with your image on it to 4 Provost Row, Palatine Sq, Arbour Hill, Dublin 7, Ireland. We will re3turn this with your print.
Please contact us if you have any problem or need further clarification. Along with your photographic image, please supply us with details of what you want to appear on your child’s canvas print. This will usually appear above or at the side of the image on your canvas print. Examples are:
First Shoes: Your child’s name, date of birth, when and where he/she took their first steps and any other relevant information regarding that day or those shoes. One or two sentences on this is usually fine. (You might have kept those first shoes in a keepsake box since your children have all grown up!)
Special teddy, doll or other toy animal: Again, your child’s name, the teddy’s name and any funny detail you’d like to include. Two or three short sentences are usually enough. (We had a 21st birthday gift order for a keepsake photograph. The parent’s keep their daughter’s one-eyed rabbit called ‘Floozey’ and we reproduced it onto canvas! She loved it, best gift ever)
A child’s painting that ‘you can’t part with’: Please scan and save as a j.peg at 300dpi. (rgb) email as an attachment and send via email to mark@MyVeryOwnPicture.com
Make sure your child has signed it if they are old enough, otherwise add the child’s name, age, and the title of the picture (if it has one), with your order.
The original drawing or artwork must be at least A4. (21cm x 29cm)
Please note: On our photographic keepsake prints, there is no extra charge for personalisation.
As with our Art Prints, the available space for you to personalise your photograph is dependent on the layout of the print. We reserve the right to change the layout/and or size of the text based on the photograph, scan, or content you have provided. Please enter and review your content carefully. Always double check names, dates and spellings. We are unable to reproduce international characters, (accents, umlauts, marks etc) Please enter character that appear on standard English/American keyboards.
If we cannot reproduce your photograph or scan or CD, due to poor quality, we will inform you immediately, and you can try again with our guidance.

8. What do you mean by ‘Limited Edition Prints’?
Our limited edition prints are signed and numbered, so that print, in that format, can only be produced in the quantities stated in the edition, both as written on the print, and subsequently documented. This is NOT ‘per size’, but is regardless of the size of each print. Our limited edition numbers are never re-issued or re-used.
An edition of 250 means that with an allowance of 10% of the edition as artist’s proofs, only 250 prints will be produced. This makes them highly collectable, and therefore more expensive than an open edition, which is not limited to any number of prints. They are, therefore, a valuable investment for the fine art collector and treasured keepsake for generations to come.
9. What exactly is Archival?
The canvas, inks etc. do not contain harmful additives or chemicals that can cause the prints to yellow, fade, and crack or bleed their colours. But, like any piece of artwork, print or original they do need to be kept away from direct sunlight. #
[ Back to Top ]
10. How do I keep my print in good condition?
Our prints are remarkably durable! However, as with any painting, please avoid getting it wet or placing it in direct sunlight for long periods. Please do not stack anything on top of, or against your print. It can be wiped clean with a soft, dry cloth or dusted with a dry/fine paintbrush. Do not use a wet cloth or detergent!

11. Will the colours on your website be the same as my finished print?
Every computer screen will display the images slightly differently. So with that in mind, we would like our customers to be aware that although we strive to represent our artwork in the truest possible way, there may be some colour variance. This is due to differences in monitor types and calibration. It is, therefore, not possible to be 100% accurate on colour matching when comparing the images you see on the website and the final print. We are, however more than happy to assist you over the phone should you need further clarification or information about our products. +353 1 6776032

12. What is the quality of your canvas prints and technology used?
With the advent of more recent printing technologies, the archival quality of pigment inks has advanced dramatically, exceeding 150 years. We pride ourselves on providing high quality canvas prints for our limited editions, growth charts and personalised keepsake photographs. We use archival quality, acid free canvas (385gm weight per sq. metre) matte finish, and extremely durable fade resistant pigment inks which ensure the very highest quality and longevity of the print. All our prints are hand stretched onto professional quality wood stretcher bars 38mm deep (1.5”) and 50mm wide (2”)
The large format printer we use allows for a higher resolution dots per inch, while spraying more than one million droplets per second onto the canvas. A high tech colour profile system is used to ensure accurate and professional colour management.
