Ed Miliano was born in 1954. He was educated at Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, New York where he received a BFA with Honors in 1976 with a specialization in illustration.
He has worked both on staff and as a freelance designer and illustrator in New York, Washington D.C., Ireland and Lesotho. He has also taught design and illustration at third level.
Ed’s illustration has appeared in publications like The New York Times, The Irish Times, Travel & Leisure and New York Woman. A new departure is flower painting which was originally done for Heritage Gardening. He had a successful one man show at the National Botanic Gardens in 2004. He has recently done the posters for Opera Ireland productions of La Traviata, Imeneo. and A Streetcar Named Desire.
It’s A Jungle Out There, his first book for children was published by Wolfhound Press in Dublin in 1997 and has received many awards, including the Bisto Book of the Year Eilis Dillon Award, a White Raven Award and it was short listed for the RAI (Reading Association of Ireland) Book of the Year Award. He is working on several new stories.
Ed continues to work as a graphic designer as well. His work is varied and includes clients such as Trinity College Dublin, the National Forum On Europe and Duff/Tisdall. Occasionally he combines his illustration and design work.
Ed lives in Dun Laoghaire with his wife and two children.
